Unlike many teas with chamomile in them, the chamomile here doesn’t completely dominate the flavor, nor is there a grassy taste. Instead, the apple pieces in the blend seem to bring out the apple-ness of the chamomile, so that the main taste is of an apple-berry mixture.

The green tea tastes fresh and sweet, and there is just a slight hint of bitterness to it. There is also a vegetative quality (imagine that!) to it, but I wouldn’t really categorize it as a grassy note so I suspect that the vegetal flavor is more a result of the artichoke flavoring rather than the green tea.

This Sencha is a very high quality tea with a smooth, fresh flavor. There is absolutely no bitterness to the tea, and very little astringency. There is some tartness, however, which is provided courtesy of the citrus flavors and lemon myrtle, and the mildest touch of warm spice from the ginger.

It has a lot of smoothness to it, as I mentioned before, the bergamot is strong but not overwhelmingly so, therefore when you drink it you will notice that every ingredient in this tea harmonizes to give you a silky smooth mouthfeel while still leaving a “brisk” feeling on your palate.

So I know I’m biased when reviewing this one, but let me say that the earl grey is soft but noticable, with heavy topnotes of lavender. The red clover and Chrysanthemum lend a soft floral touch to the background, while the licorice root and stevia back this up with a strong natural sweet note.
