I chose to write this review – and taste test this energy blend tea – on a warm sunny Sunday afternoon at about 3 o’clock, with no distractions. The one thing I definitely need right now is energy. Lots of it! And this herbal blend from Chai, Baby! is supposed to provide lots of energy and “zip” to your day.
Chai, Baby! uses some of the most energizing and invigorating herbs that you can put in a tea, including peppermint, ginger root, cinnamon, and even bright pink peppercorns that are so unbelievably beautiful amongst the other herbs. It’s wonderful that the herbs come in a clear mesh pyramid sachet with a string and tag for easy steeping, because I love the appearance of this tea as much as I enjoy the flavor and aroma.
Speaking of the aroma, WOW! It’s very exhilarating, with a gorgeous peppermint scent mingling with spices…I really love it, it’s not as overpowering as it sounds but it’s awesome to smell, especially first thing in the morning when you wake up!
Chai, Baby! describes this tea as:
Wake up, baby! Chai, Baby!’s Energy Blend is an herbal blend containing peppermint, ginger, cinnamon and more to open your eyes and put some spring in your step! A perfect afternoon (or any time) pick-me-up without caffeine.
Ingredients: Organic Peppermint, Organic Ginger Root, Organic Cinnamon, Organic Licorice, Organic Pink Peppercorns.
This blend is 100% organic and Fair Trade Certified. 16 clear pyramid sachets in our vibrant signature tin. (Note: each tea sachet can be used 2-3 times in the same sitting.)
We book along all morning — making phone calls, chauffeuring kids, writing reports, talking to customers — and then WHAM! It’s 2pm. Suddenly, we’re reading the same sentence four times and yawning like the dickens.
Well, no worries — Chai, Baby! to the rescue! Whether you start to sink at 2pm or 11am, our Energy Blend will pick you up, shake you out and get you moving again! Onward and upward, baby!
The flavor, as you can imagine, is very intense. It has predominantly mint overtones that leaves a “zing” in your mouth for quite a while after! The ginger and cinnamon leaves a bit of a sharp, dry aftertaste. However it leaves your breath smelling very fresh and clean. The overall flavor is very enjoyable, and this is a tisane I could drink everyday. Fabulous whether served hot or iced, but I feel that naturally being served iced makes it even more refreshing than it already is.
So did it give me more spring in my step on this lazy Sunday afternoon? Sure did! For a caffeine-free blend, it’s incredibly revitalizing whether you are trying to stay awake on a Sunday or waking up any day of the week!

"When I was a kid, in the middle of winter, my friend Penny and I eachbought a quart of ice cream, skated to the island in the middle of our lake and ate them. Soooo good and soooo naughty. It keeps us young to be naughty sometimes. I would just go for it an enjoy!"

"Well, as someone who has tasted a lot of chai tea, I can attest that this really is not very similar in taste to Chai. Chai tends to focus on the spices, whereas this tea’s focus is on the orange, with the spices being very gentle and more of an accent to the orange."

"How fun! I love drinking tea so I love that you have a whole blog related to reviewing them. One brand that I really love that I don’t see on your list is the Portsmouth Tea Company. When I lived in Boston I used to buy lots of their teas and they were oh so unique. They had some really great fruity and floral blends. It’s interesting that..."

"Haha!! My co-worker told me that she purchased this tea after having purchased the Matcha Latte at Seattle’s Best, and her and another co-worker purchased this because they believed it was what was served there. She stated to me today that “it didn’t seem the same exactly…it felt like their was something..."

"I’m not absolutely certain, but I believe that this is the concentrate that Seattle’s Best coffee shops use to make their matcha latte. The lattes I’ve enjoyed there were sweet with a definite melon flavor… and I have noticed that they sell other Tazo teas there. If it IS the concentrate that they use… I am..."

"Steph: Thank you for your information about the naranquilla. I didn’t find the flavor to be very tart at all – which is what I would have expected from the combination of lime and rhubarb. Perhaps the maraschino sweetened it up a bit and made it much more peach-like. It reminded me a bit of candied apricots or peaches."
