Darjeeling tea is often referred to as the “champagne” of tea, because of its distinctive flavor – known to tea enthusiasts as “muscatel” - and light color. It is one of my favorite teas, because I love the mildly brisk, slightly astringent character of it, as well as the smooth, cooling finish. I find the floral aroma with just a hint of musky spice to be irresistibly inviting.
Not all Darjeeling teas are created equal, even though they originate from the same part of the world — the Darjeeling region of West Bengal, India. There are two distinct harvests for Darjeeling tea, the first “flush” (as the harvest is called) begins in early spring, and usually produces the most flavorful (and desirable) Darjeeling tea.
This Darjeeling from Two Leaves and a Bud comes from that very desirable first flush and it is indeed a delightful tea! The flavor is amazingly bold yet smooth, with just a hint of invigorating astringency. The palate feels cool and clean after each sip!
Two Leaves and a Bud describes this tea as
Darjeeling Tea combines the delicate nature of green tea with the robust character of black teas. two leaves and a bud has found an Organic Darjeeling that is light in texture, but incredibly rich, with just a hint of sharpness. Darjeeling, India is known for producing complex teas, similar to a great wine in varying textures and flavors. This is the perfect afternoon tea, astringent and light in color. Great in the afternoon with or w/o milk.
I have never taken my Darjeeling tea with milk; I personally feel that the light liquor of the tea would be somewhat overwhelmed by it. Other than that, I completely agree with the description provided by Two Leaves and a Bud: this tea is indeed rich and complex, just like the finest wine.
I absolutely adore this Darjeeling! It is everything I’ve been searching for in a Darjeeling tea — it’s perfect!

"Dear Tea Guru, Hi, my name is Travis and I do some of the promotions for Tipu’s Chai. To answer your question, yes, we do use the same spices in our instant chai tea as we do in our slow brewed chai. The reason for this is the very same one that you mentioned. When you discover the perfect chai flavor, why change it? Thanks for your..."

"Hector: I agree, you do NOT need to strain their instant chai, however this is a review of their SLOW BREW chai, which does require straining as the spices are not as refined in the slow brew mix

"Tea Guru, Straining Tipu’s isn’t necessarily necessary. I leave the instant mix in and just don’t drink the settled stuff on the bottom (or sometimes I do depending on the “kick” I’m seeking). Either way, it’s a great cup of chai!"

"Dear Tea Guru, I very much appreciate your comments and am very happy you like our slow brew chai mix. I just wanted to make sure that its clear that the Assam tea is organic, but the spices are not certified organic. They are fresh and non radiated however. I hope that you continue to enjoy a good cuppa chai! regards, Bipin Patel,..."
