It is clear why this tea is a winner of the World Tea Championship; it is incredible!
The tea itself is quite beautiful, with long pieces of black leaves with yellowed tips. It brews to a dark coppery brown color; it has a very rich and strong color – and it tastes as rich as it looks!
This Assam Reserve is very brisk and full-bodied. When brewed correctly, it is not bitter, and has only a delicate astringency in the finish. Mostly, though, what the finish delivers is a very powerful, malty flavor for which Assam teas are well-known. I think that the malty delivery here is even more pronounced than in most of the Assam teas I’ve tried – it’s almost decadent!
Teas Etc describes this tea as
Winner 2009 World Tea Championship, Hot Tea Class, Signature Famous Teas – try it and see why.
A refreshing full-bodied traditional style Assam for those seeking a full bodied Assam black tea with a strong malt finish.
Long enjoyed as a breakfast tea in the United Kingdom, this Assam stands up well to milk and sugar or on its own.
Assam Reserve Tea Type: Black Tea
Ingredients: Black tea, Assam
Origin of Assam Reserve : India
This tea is a perfect morning tea and is strong enough to get you going even on the dreariest of days. I enjoyed this with a drizzle of agave nectar, which helped to smooth out some of the edge to this tea, however, it would be quite good on its own if you want to go for the gusto. It’s also quite nice with a splash of half & half, this addition will add to the malty character of the tea, giving it just a touch of creamy smoothness.
Kudos to Teas Etc for another superior tea selection!

"Dear Tea Guru, Hi, my name is Travis and I do some of the promotions for Tipu’s Chai. To answer your question, yes, we do use the same spices in our instant chai tea as we do in our slow brewed chai. The reason for this is the very same one that you mentioned. When you discover the perfect chai flavor, why change it? Thanks for your..."

"Hector: I agree, you do NOT need to strain their instant chai, however this is a review of their SLOW BREW chai, which does require straining as the spices are not as refined in the slow brew mix

"Tea Guru, Straining Tipu’s isn’t necessarily necessary. I leave the instant mix in and just don’t drink the settled stuff on the bottom (or sometimes I do depending on the “kick” I’m seeking). Either way, it’s a great cup of chai!"

"Dear Tea Guru, I very much appreciate your comments and am very happy you like our slow brew chai mix. I just wanted to make sure that its clear that the Assam tea is organic, but the spices are not certified organic. They are fresh and non radiated however. I hope that you continue to enjoy a good cuppa chai! regards, Bipin Patel,..."
