A Pouchong tea is not quite a green tea, and not quite an Oolong tea, but, somewhere in between. Oxidized less than an Oolong, the process gives the Pouchong tea a slightly fresher, sharper note than is typical of an Oolong, but less grassy characteristic than is typical of a green tea. But you needn’t worry about the sharper flavor here, because the sweetness provided by the rich, coconut flavor softens that edge, creating a truly beautiful union between fruit and tea.
The tantalizing aroma is lush and tropical, and oh so yummy! The flavor is a bit softer than the fragrance here, but I don’t mean that as a criticism, because the scent is quite strong. If the flavor had been as strong, it would surely overpower the flavor of the tea.
But, fortunately, it does not. This Pouchong tea is very delightful. Rich yet light-bodied, with a smooth mouthfeel that I would normally attribute to a green Oolong tea, while the coconut tastes like fresh, sweet coconut. The coconut and the tea work very well together in this blend, creating a very rich, creamy, luxurious tasting tea.
Golden Moon Tea describes this tea as
Our popular Coconut Pouchong has a flavor that is exquisitely complex with lingering floral notes. You will love the flavor of the Coconut Pouchong tea because it is sweet like young coconut water.
The flavors meld together ideally with the Pouchong base lending a smooth, complex and green flavor. Fresh is the key to the exquisite flavor offering of this Coconut Pouchong tea.
One of the secrets to our Coconut Pouchong tea is the quality and structure of the leaf. The leaves of this Coconut Pouchong tea are a large, beautiful green, well crafted Pouchong base and are elegant yet firm.
How is our Coconut Pouchong Better Than Other Coconut Teas You Have Ever Tasted?
The tea base is unrivaled. Most other coconut teas use a mediocre black tea base and a more toasted coconut flavoring. We know of no other flavored Coconut Pouchong teas of our quality and unique taste.
Coconut Pouchong tea creates a memorable tea experience when you serve it hot or iced and the tea represents an amazing value. Multiple infusions are the norm thereby increasing your Coconut Pouchong tea drinking pleasure.
There is a slight sweetness to this blend without added sweetener, however, I found that a tiny drizzle of agave nectar really enhanced the coconut flavor, as well as the floral notes from the Pouchong tea. It makes a very good iced tea (and the coconut flavor would make it a very refreshing iced beverage indeed!), as well as a very comforting hot tea. No wonder this tea won Best Tea at the 2007 World Tea Expo!

"Dear Tea Guru, Hi, my name is Travis and I do some of the promotions for Tipu’s Chai. To answer your question, yes, we do use the same spices in our instant chai tea as we do in our slow brewed chai. The reason for this is the very same one that you mentioned. When you discover the perfect chai flavor, why change it? Thanks for your..."

"Hector: I agree, you do NOT need to strain their instant chai, however this is a review of their SLOW BREW chai, which does require straining as the spices are not as refined in the slow brew mix

"Tea Guru, Straining Tipu’s isn’t necessarily necessary. I leave the instant mix in and just don’t drink the settled stuff on the bottom (or sometimes I do depending on the “kick” I’m seeking). Either way, it’s a great cup of chai!"

"Dear Tea Guru, I very much appreciate your comments and am very happy you like our slow brew chai mix. I just wanted to make sure that its clear that the Assam tea is organic, but the spices are not certified organic. They are fresh and non radiated however. I hope that you continue to enjoy a good cuppa chai! regards, Bipin Patel,..."
