This tea has so many unpronounceable herbs in it, that it MUST be good for you (pun intended)! Actually, after some research into the ingredients (listed below), I realized that it wasn’t just a company name, the tea really IS good for you!
A lot of the properties of the herbs included in this tea are said to be immune-system strengthening herbs.
This tea is part of Good 4 You’s Chakra Teas collection, and is reported to be good for the Third Eye Chakra.
The flavor is strongly lemon and hibiscus – a tart fruity flavor that cleanses the palate and works well as an iced tea also. The base for this tea is a green tea base. The tea is rather hard to taste over the more dominant flavors of hibiscus and what I’m sure is lemongrass, although that’s not listed in the ingredients. However, the green tea is very healthy, so I’m glad they included that in this blend instead of making this a strictly herbal tisane.
Good 4 You describes this tea as:
Third Eye Chakra Tea
Wake Up & Live is a lovely everyday blend. A green tea with a tart and fruity taste that turns purple! An enlivening blend for energy, strength & immunity. Rich in vitamin C and anti-oxidants. This is one of the most popular Good 4 You blends.
Ingredients: Green tea leaves, hibiscus flowers, schisandra berries, jasmine flowers, ashwaganda root (Withania somnifera) & gingko leaves. (CAFFEINATED)
All the herbs were organically grown (the jasmine flowers were grown without chemicals). The hibiscus and green tea were purchased certified fair trade. The ashwaganda root was grown at my friend’s herb farm in Hatfield, MA.
Includes: 4 oz of loose tea in a lined paper bag. About 35 to 40 servings (I use a heaping teaspoon of tea per cup).
Wake Up & Live is also available in tea bags and 1 oz loose.
Made with lots of love!
The schisandra berries are a fantastic addition to this health-focused beverage. Modern Chinese research suggests that schisandra and other lignans have a protective effect on the liver and an immunomodulating effect.
Along with the schisandra berries, they also include ashwaganda root, which has been traditionally used for the Ayurvedic system as aphrodisiacs, diuretics and for treating memory loss. The Japanese patent applications are related to the use of the herb as a skin ointment and for promoting reproductive fertility.
Gingko Biloba is a more familiar herb, being renowned as a memory/brain function aide, and mild stimulant. According to some studies, in a few cases, Ginkgo can significantly improve attention in healthy individuals. Allegedly, the effect is almost immediate and reaches its peak in 2.5 hours after the intake.
Preliminary studies suggest that Ginkgo may be of benefit in multiple sclerosis, showing modest improvements in cognition and fatigue without increasing rates of serious adverse events in this population. A study conducted in 2003 by the Department of Dermatology, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, India concluded that Ginkgo is an effective treatment for arresting the development of vitiligo.
So this tea is extremely healthy for you no matter how you look at it. I could go on about the other medical virtues of the herbs included in this tea for hours, but when combined you have a wonderful formula for well-being and natural energy. Wake Up and Live is the perfect name for this tea. It gives your brain a huge boost, as well as your entire immune system. A great tea to wake up to!
