This is a very surprising pumpkin pie flavored tea. I say this because I have tried several pumpkin flavored teas and sadly, I have not been impressed by any of them – until now! This tea is sweet, satisfying, and most definitely pumpkin-tasty.
The strongest flavor profiles come from the pumpkin pie spices, most notably, cinnamon. The black tea base is rather mild and does not impose upon the smooth pumpkin flavor, creating a delicious balance of tea and pumpkin in the background, while the spices take center stage and enchant the palate.
Tea For All Reasons describes this tea as
A selection of china black teas, pumpkin spices, flavorings and little candy pumpkins for a touch of whimsy makes this one a sure winner.
I really don’t know what else to say about this tea except for this: if you like pumpkin pie and you like black tea, you’re probably going to love this tea. It is without a doubt the best tasting pumpkin tea I’ve tasted thus far, and trust me, that is saying something! Up until now, I’d given up on pumpkin flavored teas because I didn’t think that a good tasting pumpkin tea existed. I was wrong.
As with most flavored teas, I found the flavors of this tea were greatly enhanced with the addition of sweetener (agave nectar, of course!) However, the little tiny candy pumpkins DO melt in the tea, so be aware of that when you’re adding your sweetener, and don’t add too much. I think this tea is best served hot; as it cools, the richness of the pumpkin flavor is not as distinct as when it is hot.
Also, just as pumpkin pie tastes better with whipped cream on top, this tea makes for a perfect latte. I added fat-free half and half – and what I got in return was a cup of creamy, delicious goodness! YUM!
