I live in Michigan, and cherries are kind of our thing. So when I sat down to try this blend from Teavana, I was excited to say the least. ‘Sour’ being a word some are afraid of, I was ready for the tartness challenge. With black tea, green tea, hibiscus blossoms, apple bits, sour cherries, orange peels and safflower blossoms, this tea is sure not to disappoint my taste buds.
Teavana describes this tea as:
A rich and flavorful blend of black and green tea sets the stage for an orchestra of flavor. Sour cherries stand out as the soloist in this sweet and sour symphony of tea. This tea in particular is prefect iced or delicious hot. It’s your choice.
Health Benefits of Sour Cherry Serenade Black Tea*
This tea offers the health benefits of black and green teas. Among other things, studies show this tea will help boost your immune system, avoid certain cancers (EGCG), regulate your blood sugar, lower your cholesterol and promote healthy skin, teeth and bones. It is a great, healthy choice that also has vitamins and minerals from the added fruit. This tea has approximately 10-15% the caffeine a cup of coffee would have.
Do not let yourself be surprised, this tea is tart. But that doesn’t mean you cannot enjoy it with a tiny bit of sweetener. It is like cherry pie in a cup! It does not have much caffeine so you can enjoy it anytime. I think it is a perfect kickstart to the day by drinking it in the morning. Or even a jump for the end of your day if you have to stay up late. The fact that it is black helps to make it well rounded in flavor and brew.
