What a charming tea, perfect for the holiday season. I just adore the little candy canes in this tea. At first glance, I thought that they were slivers of large candy canes, but at a close examination of this photo, I saw that they were in fact tiny little candy canes! (I could not re-check my tea as I’ve already brewed it, and the little candy canes melted away)
Unlike many mint black teas I’ve tried, this tea has an unexpected addition of vanilla, which adds a very pleasant, smooth touch to this tea. The vanilla is not strong and therefore does not overwhelm the dominate flavors of mint and black tea, yet it is detectable and quite delectable in this blend.
The peppermint is the strongest flavor profile of this blend, however, it is not so strong that it overpowers the black tea. The black tea is not extraordinarily robust in this blend, it is most likely a black Ceylon base, which provides a mild, coppery cup.
The best way I can think of to describe the flavor of this tea is to imagine that I had a cup of black Ceylon tea, and I allowed a candy cane to melt in my cup. It is a delicious balance of mint and black tea, with just a hint of vanilla. It is smooth, sweet, and yummy!

If you love candy canes, or are a fan of peppermint tea, you will absolutely adore this holiday offering. Black tea, peppermint leaves and vanilla flavoring are accented with tiny candy canes for flavor and a touch of whimsy. Kids (and adults, too) will love this one!
This is a tea that would be delicious served either hot or cold, but, I think that because it is a holiday tea, hot is the best choice. This tea has an agreeable sweetness on its own, so you should taste it before you choose to add sweetener, you may find that it’s quite good without it. I did add a little agave nectar to it (just a tiny drizzle!), and found that it gave a boost to the vanilla in this blend that I really enjoyed.
This tea would be perfect to serve alongside a plate of warm scones — and I just so happen to be enjoying some Peppermint Chocolate Chip Scones from Sticky Fingers — fresh from the oven. (I’ll be reviewing these scones soon too!) It would also be an excellent choice to serve at a holiday tea. This is sure to be a favorite of both kids and adults at your next holiday gathering.

"When I was a kid, in the middle of winter, my friend Penny and I eachbought a quart of ice cream, skated to the island in the middle of our lake and ate them. Soooo good and soooo naughty. It keeps us young to be naughty sometimes. I would just go for it an enjoy!"

"Well, as someone who has tasted a lot of chai tea, I can attest that this really is not very similar in taste to Chai. Chai tends to focus on the spices, whereas this tea’s focus is on the orange, with the spices being very gentle and more of an accent to the orange."

"How fun! I love drinking tea so I love that you have a whole blog related to reviewing them. One brand that I really love that I don’t see on your list is the Portsmouth Tea Company. When I lived in Boston I used to buy lots of their teas and they were oh so unique. They had some really great fruity and floral blends. It’s interesting that..."

"Haha!! My co-worker told me that she purchased this tea after having purchased the Matcha Latte at Seattle’s Best, and her and another co-worker purchased this because they believed it was what was served there. She stated to me today that “it didn’t seem the same exactly…it felt like their was something..."

"I’m not absolutely certain, but I believe that this is the concentrate that Seattle’s Best coffee shops use to make their matcha latte. The lattes I’ve enjoyed there were sweet with a definite melon flavor… and I have noticed that they sell other Tazo teas there. If it IS the concentrate that they use… I am..."

"Steph: Thank you for your information about the naranquilla. I didn’t find the flavor to be very tart at all – which is what I would have expected from the combination of lime and rhubarb. Perhaps the maraschino sweetened it up a bit and made it much more peach-like. It reminded me a bit of candied apricots or peaches."
