Name of Tea Accessory:
Peppermint Chocolate Chip Scones Mix from Sticky Fingers Bakeries
Available From:
Sticky Fingers Bakeries and Whole Foods
While Shopping at Whole Foods the other day, this scones mix caught my attention, and I decided at that moment that I definitely needed to try it. Peppermint Chocolate Chip Scones? That just sounds so yummy!
What I really like about Sticky Fingers scone mixes is that they’re extremely easy to prepare. No need for extra ingredients — just add water, stir until combined, and drop by the spoonful on a greased (or parchment paper lined) baking sheet, and bake. If you would like a richer tasting scone, you can substitute milk in for the water as I have done on previous occasions when making Sticky Fingers scones. However, for the purposes of this review, I decided to prepare them according to package instructions.
Despite being easy to prepare, the scones are extraordinarily delicious: moist and rich tasting, the way you’d expect a scone to be, with a tender crispness to the outer edges of the scone, and a nice, crumbly texture. In fact, having baked a few scones from scratch, I can honestly say that the flavors and textures of the Sticky Fingers scones are quite homemade-like, but without all the measuring and mess!
This scones mix is filled with a bountiful supply of large chocolate chips and chunks of peppermint candy canes, so that every scone is loaded with lots of each. The candy canes melt in the heat of the oven, of course, which creates a kind of melty, crunchy crust on the edges of each scone. I really loved the texture that this added to the scone.
And the best part (at least for this chocoholic) is the CHOCOLATE! As I mentioned, there is a BUNCH of BIG chocolate chips in each scone, which become gooey and fudge-y, just like a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie, making these scones just about the most delicious ones I’ve ever tasted! (The only ones better are the scones I would get from my favorite tea house when I have tea, and I think what makes those better is that I didn’t have to bake them!)
Sticky Fingers Bakeries has this to say about their holiday products:
All-natural holiday spirit in every bite.
Sticky Fingers brings a new tradition to your kitchen this holiday season. The unique flavors of our holiday scones and muffins are sure to surprise. We’ve added only the finest all-natural ingredients with just a pinch of elfin magic to each batch… OK, that part about the elf we kind of made up … but Sticky Fingers really does make enjoying the taste of home-baked goodies seem like magic. All-natural recipes that are simple to make and easy to share. We’re hoping that someday, the holidays won’t seem the same without the unique taste of our holiday scones and muffins.
On the aforementioned shopping trip at Whole Foods, I also noticed that there were several other holiday flavors from Sticky Fingers available. I will hopefully get the opportunity to try at least one other before the holidays are over, because I really enjoyed these! They are rich and flavorful without the addition of clotted cream or butter, and if you have left overs (I usually only have left over scones if I’m the only one eating them. Once I serve them to my kids, they’re gone!) they heat up very well in the microwave (just 15 seconds!) and, yes, they taste great reheated, too.
These delectable scones would be the hit of your holiday tea party, or consider serving them as you and your family trim the holiday tree along with your favorite tea, of course! They are sure to become a holiday tradition for me and my family, and once you try them, I’ll bet you’ll want to make them a tradition for you and yours, too!

"When I was a kid, in the middle of winter, my friend Penny and I eachbought a quart of ice cream, skated to the island in the middle of our lake and ate them. Soooo good and soooo naughty. It keeps us young to be naughty sometimes. I would just go for it an enjoy!"

"Well, as someone who has tasted a lot of chai tea, I can attest that this really is not very similar in taste to Chai. Chai tends to focus on the spices, whereas this tea’s focus is on the orange, with the spices being very gentle and more of an accent to the orange."

"How fun! I love drinking tea so I love that you have a whole blog related to reviewing them. One brand that I really love that I don’t see on your list is the Portsmouth Tea Company. When I lived in Boston I used to buy lots of their teas and they were oh so unique. They had some really great fruity and floral blends. It’s interesting that..."

"Haha!! My co-worker told me that she purchased this tea after having purchased the Matcha Latte at Seattle’s Best, and her and another co-worker purchased this because they believed it was what was served there. She stated to me today that “it didn’t seem the same exactly…it felt like their was something..."

"I’m not absolutely certain, but I believe that this is the concentrate that Seattle’s Best coffee shops use to make their matcha latte. The lattes I’ve enjoyed there were sweet with a definite melon flavor… and I have noticed that they sell other Tazo teas there. If it IS the concentrate that they use… I am..."

"Steph: Thank you for your information about the naranquilla. I didn’t find the flavor to be very tart at all – which is what I would have expected from the combination of lime and rhubarb. Perhaps the maraschino sweetened it up a bit and made it much more peach-like. It reminded me a bit of candied apricots or peaches."
