This tea is the epitome of warmth and relaxation. The absolute perfect tea for cold, blustery fall and winter days. Yogi tea is one of the few tea companies whose bagged teas I actually really enjoy. Let’s face it, usually bagged teas are….inferior at best. Yogi tea turns that perception on it’s head, especially when producing teas such as this one, with the perfect flavor of crisp sweet apple combining with delicious spices to create a unique tea that is somewhere between an apple tisane and a chai tea.
I found this tea to be delicious when a touch of sweetener is added, even though the Stevia in the blend adds a natural sweetness to the tea. Milk just would not go well with this tea, even with the spices, it would mute out most of the apple flavor I believe.
The Assam black tea base is very strong and delicious, forming a powerful base for a lovely tea. The rooibos adds additional sweetness and a natural honey-like flavor that balances the spices very nicely. Overall this tea delivers on it’s promise, a gorgeous tea which tastes like apples and spice!
Yogi Tea describes this tea as:
Ascend the foothills of the legendary Himalayas, where the ancients created the perfect cup of tea. The journey begins with rich, full-bodied Assam black tea tempered with the sweet and earthy flavor of organic rooibos—also known as the red tea of South Africa—a powerful antioxidant. We’ve blended these delicious teas with a traditional Ayurvedic combination of cardamom, cinnamon and clove, warming spices known for their cleansing properties. Fragrant with the subtle sweetness of apple and pear, this gently invigorating tea refreshes the body and awakens the mind.*
Ingredients: Assam Black Tea, Cinnamon Bark, Ginger Root, Rooibos Leaf (Redbush), Nutmeg, Black Pepper, Stevia Leaf, Natural Flavors
This tea goes past where a basic apple cinnamon tea would tread, to add multi-faceted layers to this tea, with a multitude of spices that blend very well together without overwhelming the brew. This one is a must-have to keep on hand during the cooler months. Would probably also make a great iced tea in the summertime as well!
