I am not usually a big fan of detox teas. That’s because they are not usually made with flavor in mind, but rather, for their function, which is to help cleanse the body.
Because of the herbs often used to help facilitate this function, the flavor of the detox tea can be repugnant, to put it mildly.
That’s not to say that there are not decent tasting detox teas out there, because there are. Detoxify Me from KTeas is a good example. Yes, this is a functional tea, but it is a good tasting functional tea.
The aroma is what first caught my attention. Before taking a sip, I inhaled the warm vapors of the tea, and I was met with an enticing scent of lemon, with just a hint of ginger.
I think what I like best about the flavor of this tea is that it is quite mild, not overpoweringly strong (which is often the case when drinking a detox tea, one of the things that makes them a bit off-putting). The bright flavor of lemon, mingling with the warm ginger and fennel seed are softened by the presence of honeybush, which brings a pleasant sweetness and a smooth, mellow flavor to the overall cup.
KTeas describes this tea as:
An appealing blend of orange peel, goji berries, organic lemon myrtle, organic ginger root, lemon honeybush and fennel seed brews up a robust golden orange liquor (the liquid after steeping the tea or herbs) that warms you from the inside out.
This is a very comforting tea, not at all what I expected when I brew a detox tea — a very good thing indeed! This is not only a very tempting way to detox, but the tea would also be very soothing for a sore throat. Tasty served hot, but surprisingly good served chilled too!
I prefer this tea with just a drizzle of honey and a slice of lemon because it really accentuates the lemony flavors of the tea, however, this tea is good without any additions, as the honeybush does bring a little natural sweetness to the party.
Detoxify Me makes detox a pleasure!

"When I was a kid, in the middle of winter, my friend Penny and I eachbought a quart of ice cream, skated to the island in the middle of our lake and ate them. Soooo good and soooo naughty. It keeps us young to be naughty sometimes. I would just go for it an enjoy!"

"Well, as someone who has tasted a lot of chai tea, I can attest that this really is not very similar in taste to Chai. Chai tends to focus on the spices, whereas this tea’s focus is on the orange, with the spices being very gentle and more of an accent to the orange."

"How fun! I love drinking tea so I love that you have a whole blog related to reviewing them. One brand that I really love that I don’t see on your list is the Portsmouth Tea Company. When I lived in Boston I used to buy lots of their teas and they were oh so unique. They had some really great fruity and floral blends. It’s interesting that..."

My co-worker told me that she purchased this tea after having purchased the Matcha Latte at Seattle’s Best, and her and another co-worker purchased this because they believed it was what was served there. She stated to me today that “it didn’t seem the same exactly…it felt like their was something..."

"I’m not absolutely certain, but I believe that this is the concentrate that Seattle’s Best coffee shops use to make their matcha latte. The lattes I’ve enjoyed there were sweet with a definite melon flavor… and I have noticed that they sell other Tazo teas there. If it IS the concentrate that they use… I am..."

"Steph: Thank you for your information about the naranquilla. I didn’t find the flavor to be very tart at all – which is what I would have expected from the combination of lime and rhubarb. Perhaps the maraschino sweetened it up a bit and made it much more peach-like. It reminded me a bit of candied apricots or peaches."
