I am somewhat wary of coconut-flavored teas; in the majority of them that I’ve tried, the coconut has tasted more like coconut-scented soapsuds than like coconut to me. I guess it’s something in my taste-bud genes, that makes it taste soapy. (Tastes do vary greatly for genetic reasons.) In this tea, however, the refreshing bite of pineapple was adequate to offset that for me, so that I found it quite pleasant. The coconut did not overpower the other flavors, except at the very bottom of the cup, where I did get a rather strong coconut aftertaste.
I added just a bit of sugar to this, and I suspect that although rooibos has a bit of natural sweetness, most people will want to add more sugar or other sweetener, because of the tart pineapple flavor. Not everyone will enjoy the bite of pineapple straight up.
ESP Emporium says about this tea:
Just imagine: lying under a coconut palm tree on a Caribbean beach, listening to the sea and enjoying the sun. This cocktail classic brings about the lazy Caribbean feeling, which you can now enjoy in a non-alcoholic version. The combination of fruity fresh pineapple with creamy, sweet coconut brings exotic pleasure. Accordingly, the tea is decorated with coconut and pineapple pieces – a feast for the eyes. This top seller, as well as its counterparts on other bases, should be part of each assortment. A creamy tropical classic cocktail, which can be enjoyed hot or as a delicious ice tea version.
I didn’t like it as well iced as hot, but then I generally don’t like most rooibos teas iced; it’s a flavor I find much more appealing hot. If you like iced rooibos, though, then you will find that this makes a good version, and with some extra sugar, the pineapple flavor tastes stronger and you’ll feel very summer-y.
ESP Emporium has an enormous variety of rooibos teas (and related honeybush teas), and their prices are very reasonable, so if you go over to their web site to look for this tea, I’ll bet you’ll find your mouth watering over some of the others, too!

"When I was a kid, in the middle of winter, my friend Penny and I eachbought a quart of ice cream, skated to the island in the middle of our lake and ate them. Soooo good and soooo naughty. It keeps us young to be naughty sometimes. I would just go for it an enjoy!"

"Well, as someone who has tasted a lot of chai tea, I can attest that this really is not very similar in taste to Chai. Chai tends to focus on the spices, whereas this tea’s focus is on the orange, with the spices being very gentle and more of an accent to the orange."

"How fun! I love drinking tea so I love that you have a whole blog related to reviewing them. One brand that I really love that I don’t see on your list is the Portsmouth Tea Company. When I lived in Boston I used to buy lots of their teas and they were oh so unique. They had some really great fruity and floral blends. It’s interesting that..."

My co-worker told me that she purchased this tea after having purchased the Matcha Latte at Seattle’s Best, and her and another co-worker purchased this because they believed it was what was served there. She stated to me today that “it didn’t seem the same exactly…it felt like their was something..."

"I’m not absolutely certain, but I believe that this is the concentrate that Seattle’s Best coffee shops use to make their matcha latte. The lattes I’ve enjoyed there were sweet with a definite melon flavor… and I have noticed that they sell other Tazo teas there. If it IS the concentrate that they use… I am..."

"Steph: Thank you for your information about the naranquilla. I didn’t find the flavor to be very tart at all – which is what I would have expected from the combination of lime and rhubarb. Perhaps the maraschino sweetened it up a bit and made it much more peach-like. It reminded me a bit of candied apricots or peaches."
