White Blossom Earl Grey from Red Leaf Tea

white blossom earl grey from Red Leaf TeaThis is an incredibly tasty and special Earl Grey tea.  Red Leaf Tea starts this tea with a lovely and smooth Bai Mu Dan white tea which gives a smooth yet slightly floral, nutty flavor that blends so well with the character of the bergamot they use.

I really do enjoy a good Earl Grey, and this one exceeded my expectations. It’s incredibly sweet, light and bursting with flavors that mix together so very well.  The fragrance is definitely floral, with a light aroma of white tea and nuances of citrus.  It’s flavor is as intoxicating as it’s fragrance, and is wonderful for an afternoon or dessert tea.  Would go exceptionally well with vanilla ice cream!

Red Leaf Tea describes this tea as:

From the Southern Chinese province of Fujian comes the “white peony,” or Bai Mu Dan white tea. Famous for its nutty flavor, stronger than most white teas, our Bai Mu Dan is mixed with blue mallow blossoms and the classic Earl Grey ingredient, bergamot, for a great flavor. With its mellow depth, White Blossom Earl Grey will go well with breakfast, and also makes an excellent dessert tea! Rare enough to make a wonderful holiday treat!

INGREDIENTS: Bai Mu Dan white tea, blue mallow blossoms and bergamot flavor.

This one is too light for milk, but a little sweetener goes a long way in bringing out the sweet and floral notes in the tea.  Serve hot, not chilled as the flavors are strong yet delicate in their own way, each one perfectly balanced so that to ice this tea would be to overwhelm it.

On my second cup, I added some lavender flowers to the blend and WOW, what an incredible experience.  This is a tea that not only stands well on it’s own, but also works well with the addition of lavender flowers, jasmine flowers, or even rose petals.  The blue mallow blossoms in the blend add a decorative blue touch to the leaves, and adds a light floral touch to the overall brew.
