I’ve been reading a lot lately about the benefits of drinking peppermint tea. Different studies have shown it may have a variety of benefits, including boosting mental alertness and being a great digestive aid. Two Leaves & A Bud makes mention of these benefits in their description of the tea as well.
If you’ve had tea from Two Leaves & A Bud, you know of their clear packaging, allowing you to clearly see the tea bag as well as the tea leaves within the bag. In this case, the peppermint leaves are clearly visible. I would not describe them as finely chopped; they are definitely bigger pieces of leaves. The scent of these chopped peppermint leaves hits you almost the instant you open the package! It is quite pleasant and not at all overpowering.
This is one of my favourite peppermint teas when I am looking for a lighter-bodied peppermint. While I would describe the flavour of this particular tea as being medium-bodied, I have definitely had more full-bodied peppermint teas. The flavour is very lively, however, & definitely perks you up. Keep it in mind, too, that it is perking you up without caffeine! The tea leaves a very fresh flavour on your palate and is quite smooth. I find I don’t have to steep peppermint teas for as long as some other teas; the flavours seem to develop quite quickly! Check this tea after about two minutes to see if the flavour is where you want it. If it’s not quite there yet, just steep a bit longer!
Two Leaves & A Bud describes this tea as:
Refreshing, minty, organic peppermint aids in digestion and gives clarity of thought. Fresh, pure aroma will lift your spirits and quiet your mind. Mint is one of the oldest of drinks. The mint-after-a-meal custom dates back to ancient Rome, and has been a favorite cure for indigestion since Biblical times.
Our Peppermint tea is 100% pure peppermint and 100% caffeine-free. Some “Peppermint Tea” has both peppermint and inexpensive blending tea so it is not caffeine-free.
I whole-heatedly agree with Two Leaves & A Bud’s description of this tea. This tea definitely perked me up and helped me to focus my mind. Not only that, it is a great tea to have after dinner! There’s not really anything I didn’t like about this tea; it was delicious, refreshing and uplifting! If you’re looking for a drink to perk you up without the caffeine, I highly recommend giving this very flavourful tea a try.
