Blueberry Petals from Blue Raven Tea

Blueberry PetalsThe aroma of this tea is absolutely lovely: the rose scent when blended with the blueberry essence takes on a beautiful bouquet that I would not describe as either berry or flower.  If somehow science manages to cross a rose with a blueberry, it would probably smell just like this.

Although the listing for this tea is not specific about the type of black tea that is used in this blend, I suspect it is either a Congou or a Ceylon base (or perhaps a blend of the two) as this is a smooth, medium-bodied tea that is quite reminiscent to Congou.

But what really is remarkable about this tea is the sweet yet delicately tart blueberry flavor as well as the sharp note of the rose, and how well these two compliment each other on the palate.  Somehow the rose essence has made the blueberry flavor taste more like a blueberry.  More often than not, I have found that blueberry flavored teas tend to have a somewhat artificial — and sometimes even tin-ish — quality to them.  This tea, I am happy to say, does not.

Blue Raven Tea describes this tea as

Wild blueberries mixed with the scent of fresh cut roses.

This tea would be delicious served either hot or iced.  I did add a little drizzle of agave nectar to my cup which developed much of the unique flavor of this tea, as well as curb some of the sharpness of the tea.

This is truly a delightful tea that is a treat for the senses!
