Cranberry Matcha from 52 Teas

Cranberry Matcha from 52 TeasRecently, 52Teas treated its fans (yep, I’m a fan!) to not one, not two, but THREE unique flavored matcha teas!  I promptly ordered all three.

Interestingly enough, this is the one that has turned out to be my favorite – although that is not said to slight the other two flavors (banana and apple) because I really like those as well – and what makes that interesting is that I was heavily considering NOT ordering this particular matcha because I’m not a big fan of cranberry.

Well, let me restate that.  I actually DO like cranberry.  But, when it comes to cranberry tea, I find myself quite unsure and apprehensive.  There seems to be a fear that lurks in my brain that cranberry teas are going to be too tart for my sensitive palate.

But the truth of the matter is, I haven’t yet found a cranberry tea that I didn’t like!  And I must admit that I’ve tried quite a few.

This cranberry tea might just be my favorite, though.  The pairing of cranberry and matcha is pure genius!  The sweet, vegetative, slightly bitter taste of the matcha together with the sweet-yet-tart quality of the cranberry creates a delicious flavor that has my taste buds going bonkers with joy!

The matcha whisks to a smooth, rich consistency with a pleasing, foamy froth on top.  The color is a bit weird for matcha, but not at all unusual for a *flavored* matcha.  It coats the palate with a rich, leafy taste that in unmistakably matcha.

The cranberry is delicious – fruity and juicy tasting and ABUNDANT!  It really tastes strongly of cranberry, however, that being said, it in no way interferes with the flavor of the matcha.  They are balanced very well.

52Teas describes this matcha as

After some trial and error, we’ve perfected the recipe for not one, not two, but THREE brand new flavored matcha blends. Here is the third; and I apologize to our email subscribers for the multiple emails today, but this is an exception, not the rule.

We used up all of the stock of matcha we had in creating these blends so be forewarned, this is a limited edition blend; when it’s gone, it’s gone.

Here’s our premium matcha blended with real dried cranberry juice and natural flavors. YUM.

YUM is right.  This is quickly becoming one of my favorite flavored matcha teas (and I’ve tried quite a few!)  It is delicious served in the traditional way, whisked in a chawan with hot water.  But for a deliciously different treat, try whisking it in orange juice or adding a scoop or two of it to your favorite smoothie ingredients before you blend it.  Not only is it incredibly healthy (because you consume the entire leaf with matcha, you get the full health benefits from the tea leaf with matcha), but it is really delicious!
