This is a flavor from 52Teas that I simply could not pass up. Truth be told, there aren’t many flavors that I am able to resist from them. But I really LOVED their Strawberry Zabaglione, and I figured if this one was half as good, I’d be happy.
As it turns out, this one is even better than the Strawberry Zabaglione! And, I generally prefer strawberries to blueberries.
So, it’s curious that I would prefer this tea to the Strawberry. Could it be the smell of this tea? When I lift my cup to my lips, I inhale the fragrance of the tea just before taking a sip. The smell is positively irresistible. It smells like warm berries… like maybe a blueberry compote, or warm blueberry jam.
But even more than the aroma, what I think it is about this tea is that it is a little more forgiving. I am not getting that same tannic quality in the background that I would get from the Strawberry Zabaglione. The flavors seem to unify better with this tea than with the strawberry. At least, that’s my take on it.
Now don’t get me wrong, I love both blends. I just think I prefer this one. Of course, it’s been at least a week or two since I last enjoyed a cup of the Strawberry Zabaglione, so, I can’t say for sure. Anyway… let’s get back to my thoughts on this tea!
The blueberry flavor is strong. It tastes like plump, juicy berries. When enjoyed as a hot tea, I would liken the experience to that of warm blueberry pie filling, or perhaps warm blueberry syrup… although not nearly as cloying as pie filling (or syrup) can be. Imagine blueberries, cooked down to extract their goodness and then stirred into a lovely warm custard. That’s what is in my teacup right now!
And this tea would not be a tea without the tea. (Yeah, I came up with that on my own. Impressed?) The black tea base is smooth and robust without being domineering. It is not bitter and adds its own very flavorful backdrop to this cup. Delicious!
52Teas describes this blend as
Following the HUGE success we had with our Strawberry Zabaglione, I decided we should offer a blueberry version.
Here’s our premium Indian black teas blended with real (HUGE!) freeze-dried blueberries and natural flavors. This is a truly delicious combination of creamy zabaglione and blueberries with great black tea.
Get it now, because this one is going to go FAST!!!
This tea is fabulous hot or iced. And a little sweetener goes a long way with this tea, so don’t go overboard with the sweetener. Personally, I’d recommend a drizzle of honey with this, the flavor of the honey goes well with the flavor of the Zabaglione. Of course, this would be good without any sweetener, if you’d rather go that route.
This one IS going fast, in fact, as I write this, there are only FIVE pouches of this amazing blend left in stock!

"I am a tea drinker and this cocoa shell tea has been a bit of a revelation for me. I was looking for an alternative, change of pace source of caffeine for my weekends and this fits the bill. One tablespoon brewed for 10 minutes provides a subtle chocolate taste with about the same level of caffeine as green tea, which is perfect for me. I am trying to..."
