I had heard from some of my online tea friends that this was an amazing Yerba Maté, and it has definitely managed to live up to all that hype. This is one of the best Yerba Maté blends I’ve yet to taste.
The roasted Yerba Maté is warm and rich with an earthy quality. The combination of the Yerba Maté and the chicory give this tisane an almost “coffee-like” background, and it compliments the chocolate tones very well.
The chocolate is a bittersweet chocolate, and it is rich and creamy. The raspberry is a very pleasant surprise. I love the sweet-tart flavor of raspberry with the decadent taste of chocolate – one of my very favorite flavor combinations! The almond is a bit obscured by the other stronger flavors, but, it is a nice accent and gives a lot of visual interest to the dry leaf.
David’s Tea describes this tisane as
Need a boost? Try this tea. First you’ll experience a pure, sweet hit of chocolate. Then you’ll find yourself awash in the freshness of raspberries. Followed by the richness of almonds and chicory. And then, bang, you’ll realize you’ve been infused with roasted Brazilian maté. How will you know? It’s what’s giving you all that crazy energy. Just fly with it.
This is delicious hot or iced. I prefer it hot, mostly because I prefer Yerba Maté hot. But, the flavors remain bright and strong as it cools, making this a stunning iced tea. A deliciously different kind of energy drink!
