Masala chai is a unique flavor experience. It is sweet, spicy, and smooth all at the same time. I usually make my chai from scratch by boiling the tea with milk, sugar and spices, and I was dubious to try an instant blend. But wow, am I glad I gave it a try!
As soon as I opened the package, I was hit with the delicious aroma of gingersnap cookies. I smelled ginger, cardamom, cinnamon and cloves. Incredibly warm and comforting. I was so pleased that I ran to brew a cup. I added a teaspoon of the mixture to a cup of hot milk, stirred, and smelled chai perfection.
The flavor was exactly what I look for in masala chai. Spicy, with a lingering ginger and pepper hum. The spices work in harmony, and one doesn’t dominate the cup. It’s amazing to me that this instant chai tastes as if I brewed it from scratch!
