I was absolutely amazed when I received this sample of Yerba Dirté tea in the mail from the Dur Tea company of Toronto Canada. When I last spoke of Pu-Erh tea, I declared it the “Earthiest tea I’d ever tasted”. Which was true until I found this tea.
The package recommended 1 tablespoon of tea per 8 ounces of boiling water, and I found just a little less was necessary for a proper brewing. The ingredients in this tea were listed as: Yerba Maté (organic), Cinnamon (organic), Venezuelan Dirt (organic) and Natural Flavorings. The package also mentioned it is Fair Trade certified so you know that the dirt farmers are being treated with dignity and respect.
Dur Tea describes this tea as:
This award-winning new exploration in tea will ground and center you while taking you to a lush oasis with grassy roots and green greenery. Over 420 ounces of high quality Venezuelan soil were sifted to create this one cup of Yerba Dirté. Mixed with our high grade roasted Yerba Maté, you can get back “down to earth” with Yerba Dirté from Dur Tea.
After trying my first two cups I felt a little more confident with this new tea and was able to locate a recipe through Google for this fabulous Dirté Smoothie recipe. Absolutely better than anything I’ve had in a long time, click here to see why!! And you too can make this simple, yet deliciously minty shake in your own home!
