This tea is so colorful! I love the vibrant hues of the flower petals, and the bright green spears of Sencha tea.
Sure, I realize that the way a tea looks has very little to do with how it tastes, but, I have a great appreciation for a tea that looks just as beautiful as it tastes.
And this tea tastes great too. The Sencha tea is the most prominent flavor profile in this cup. It is very bright and light-bodied, without even a hint of bitterness. Just smooth, fresh, and barely vegetative, the way a high quality Sencha should be.
The fruit flavor is not as strong as many flavored teas I’ve tasted, but, I find it hard to complain about that, because the green tea is so pleasant tasting. The papaya and pineapple essences here are sweet, with a deliciously juicy flavor. There is a very pleasant whisper of tartness in the aftertaste that lingers on the tongue.
Zhi Tea describes this tea as
Make no mistake, this is no ordinary organic tropical green tea blend.
We use a high grade, tasty sencha tea and fold in real pineapple and papaya pieces, rose petals, calendula and safflowers, for a colorful and incredibly delightful tea. This is fantastic as a chilled tea, as well. We made this to be an unabashedly indulgent tea, so dive in.
USDA Organic and Fair Trade
This is a tea that you should really infuse for a little longer than you might normally brew a green tea. If you normally brew a green tea for 2 minutes, brew this one for 4, and at a temperature that is below the boiling point to avoid scorching the leaves. (Trust me, this will leave you with a mucky brown colored liquid that just doesn’t taste very good) A small amount of sweetener will also enhance some of the more subtle notes in this tea.
I am very happy with this tea from Zhi teas. It is my first experience with their high quality tea and based upon this delightful tea, it most certainly will not be my last.

"I am a tea drinker and this cocoa shell tea has been a bit of a revelation for me. I was looking for an alternative, change of pace source of caffeine for my weekends and this fits the bill. One tablespoon brewed for 10 minutes provides a subtle chocolate taste with about the same level of caffeine as green tea, which is perfect for me. I am trying to..."
