The infused tea has a pale golden color, like liquid amber. The taste is sweet, a little vegetal, with a surprising spicy cinnamon-like finish that lingers on the palate. It’s almost peppery. The leaves produce a smooth satisfying cup. This is a nice oolong, and the spicy kick makes it different from many others that I’ve tried. The cinnamon flavor imparts a warming feeling that is a great antidote for winter weather.

This is a delightful Oolong from EarthBound tea. It is a bit greener than my usual favorite Formosa Oolongs, and is also just a little sweeter, with stronger floral notes than a Formosa Oolong. Smooth and buttery, with hints of fruit and even some earthy floral notes, with very little astringency. The first infusion, in fact, I would say that there is no astringency at all, and in the two subsequent infusions (you can get three very flavorful infusions from the same measurement of leaves), there is but a whisper of astringency. It has a definite Oolong scent and flavor – but unlike many darker Oolongs I’ve tasted, it is not strongly “earthy” flavored! It also has a lovely undertone of floral and citrusy fruit – kind of tropical, but it IS an undertone – the the main flavor!

Even though it is an unusual Oolong, I do really enjoy it. I have to remind my mouth that I’m not drinking a black tea with milk and sugar – there’s not a lot of sweetness to this tea, but as I sip – it fills me with warmth and peace, and I find it very refreshing!

In the cup the steeped brew looked like golden honey nectar, as though I had been blessed by the tea gods with a bright cup of golden sunshine! I would recommend this tea even if you were not concerned or trying to lose weight. It is extremely sweet and fruity. It has such a fresh citrus tang that it truly is refreshing. I recommend drinking this late morning or early afternoon when the sweet cravings start to kick in.

This oolong has a wonderful floral aroma that is even stronger on a second steeping than on the first. The floral impression is so strong that you’d almost think there were rose or jasmine petals, even though there aren’t. The tea is good for several steepings.

This is a very pleasant tea … even if it is grape flavored! It is one that I’d certainly try again if offered. It has an enjoyable tartness to it (but not too sour) and doesn’t taste artificial or too sweet. There is some astringency to the cup which seems to highlight the wine-like qualities of this cup.
