The white tea base (white peony) is a delicate, fresh-tasting tea base. I thought it might be too delicate, at first, but everything has a good balance here. I can taste the smooth, sweet flavor of the white tea without the fruit flavors interfering.

The flavor is rich and smooth. It has a brisk character that is invigorating. The flavor is slightly fruit-like, with notes of a caramel-like sweetness in the distance. It has a wine-like quality to it as well, both with the fruit tones to the flavor, as well as the slightly dry and sweet finish.

You can taste a hint of lemon and a hint of something you can’t quite put your finger on, but boy does it taste great! The tea itself is exquisite, with a lot of flavor of it’s own to contribute to the blend. In fact this Pouchong has heavy peach notes that lend itself perfectly to the caramel notes.

This was actually quite tasty, and I find myself enjoying it more as I continue to sip it. I like it best hot, as it does have an autumnal feel to it. It is naturally caffeine free and has its own, natural sweetness. It tastes quite good straight, but adding a little honey or sugar won’t hurt it, either. Delicious!

On the first sip of this tea I tasted the earthy Pu-Erh, the chocolate, a minty coolness, and the sweet background notes. The black tea was not i n the forefront of the taste. I love how this tea is earthy and sweet at the same time. This tea has a very nice mouthfeel and the earthy flavors linger after the sip.

The white chocolate gives this tea a very rich and creamy taste. It doesn’t taste particularly like chocolate… but then, white chocolate doesn’t really taste much like chocolate to this chocoholic anyway. Don’t get me wrong, I like white chocolate just fine, but, if given a choice over white chocolate vs. milk/dark chocolate, the darker chocolate would win out almost every time.

Overall, the flavor is sweet – and since it’s a “dessert tea” I guess it should be sweet, right? It reminds me a bit of the creamy flavor of the inside of a peppermint patty – although the mint is a bit more subdued here than in the confection. And as I said, I don’t taste the chocolate that is supposed to be here, and that is a disappointment. But even aside from the lack of chocolate, it is a tasty cup.

"I am a tea drinker and this cocoa shell tea has been a bit of a revelation for me. I was looking for an alternative, change of pace source of caffeine for my weekends and this fits the bill.
