Big Red Robe from California Tea House
- Type Of leaves: Oolong Tea
- Name Of Tea: Big Red Robe

This is a very mild Oolong that has a lot of character, much like some milder first flush Darjeelings, although this particular Oolong comes from China. Definitely one of the better unblended pure Oolong teas I’ve ever tasted, with lovely middle-notes, leading to a pleasant finish.

The taste is complex. Along with a note of roasted chestnut, the main note I taste in this tea is an earthy, mushroom-y one.

This tea tastes like a standard lemon ginger green tea with a twist – the chamomile, lemon myrtle and chrysanthemum buds all serve to soften and sweeten the flavor, to make it much more like a real lemon drop. A great summer blend from California Tea House!

This Sencha is a very high quality tea with a smooth, fresh flavor. There is absolutely no bitterness to the tea, and very little astringency. There is some tartness, however, which is provided courtesy of the citrus flavors and lemon myrtle, and the mildest touch of warm spice from the ginger.

It really does remind me of those old Lemon Drop Candies! Nice Treat-Type Tea! It’s very tasty and refreshing and you can taste the true ingredients and not think they are artificial.

One of my favorite chai blends, this Chocolate Chai from the California Tea House tastes like the highest quality spices blended with a delicious creamy chocolate overtone.

The taste is not a disappointment! First, your mouth picks up the delicious chocolate flavor, then it is hit by all the spicy chai spices. I tried it first without any added milk, but this is a real rich flavor and while it is delicious alone, your mouth almost expects a creamy flavor so I added some milk. I found this to be a perfect blend of a high quality hot chocolate and a good cup of chai. The tastes go as good together as I had hoped.

The dominant flavor in this blend is the chocolate, amongst the backdrop of cinnamon and the other spices. The spice is warm but not spicy, and the coconut adds a smoothness to the flavor. This would be a perfect after-meal tea to enjoy with dessert, or even instead of dessert! The flavor is much like a gourmet truffle!

This has a medium body/flavor. It is not strong, but not so light that you feel like you are drinking brown water. The chocolate flavor is there but I don’t feel like I am drinking straight chocolate syrup.

The fragrance is immediately rewarding: beautiful, fresh and lemony, with just a hint of sweetness to entice the tastebuds. And true to its name, this tea is equally as rewarding to the palate with a bright, lemony flavor that reminds me of a sunny summer afternoon, and like my gramma’s pie, it is just sweet enough, not too tart, with a smooth creamy backdrop that mimics a fluffy-sweet meringue topping.

This lemon meringue is more about the peaceful side of things – not quite as lip-puckeringly lemony, not quite as intense a vanilla cream flavor for the meringue.

A few other side notes to this tea that I noticed was that it was pretty-darned creamy tasting. That was a nice touch. I also appreciate the fact that it goes beyond the average rooibos.

The lime is most prominent, with an authentic lime juice flavor – just slightly tart, slightly sweet. The coconut is sweet yet strong enough to be tasted, the perfect compliment to the bright tangy lime notes!

I really love the tropical flavor of this tea. The bright tartness of the lime is softened with the sweetness of the coconut, and you can also really taste the unique qualities of both the Chinese and Indian teas. There is a pleasant boldness provided by the Assam, while the Chinese green teas offer a freshness that brings its own subtle sweetness to the flavor.

This smooth, creamy and sweet tea has a deep malty flavor that is simply bursting with chocolate and nuts. It’s soothing yet indulgent and never turns bitter no longer how long you steep it.

This is truly a delightful green tea, one of the best flavored green teas that I’ve ever tried! I would highly recommend this to anyone who might think of green tea being too grassy for their taste, because this tea will change their mind!

Vanilla Creme Earl Grey from California Tea HouseThis definitely is not your mother’s Earl Grey. In fact this Vanilla Creme Earl Grey blend is completely different from any Earl Grey OR Cream Earl Grey that I’ve tasted.

So, basically, if you are looking for a black tea and are looking for one with a little extra something…give this a try…it’s a great blend. It’s creamy and fun.

What really makes this a unique cream Earl Grey tea is the vanilla essence. It’s remarkably strong in this blend, even stronger than in some vanilla teas I’ve tasted.

You have the combination of the simple blend of earl grey matched with the smooth finish of a light vanilla creme.

I love this summertime treat! The white tea leaves are of obvious high quality, lending a soft sweet tone to the undertone of the tea.

The melon flavor in this tea is quite strong, but it does not overwhelm the delicate, light-bodied white tea.
Read This Review...JenniferB
The taste is a white-tea-type-taste and I can taste a melon, more like a honeydew melon. Can’t taste the yogurt claim but you can tell something makes it smoother, so I will chalk that up as the yogurt!

"I am a tea drinker and this cocoa shell tea has been a bit of a revelation for me. I was looking for an alternative, change of pace source of caffeine for my weekends and this fits the bill. One tablespoon brewed for 10 minutes provides a subtle chocolate taste with about the same level of caffeine as green tea, which is perfect for me. I am trying to..."
