Caramel-Toffee Tea from Dammann Frères

This tea has a rich, yet very smooth base – and it doesn’t attempt to protrude upon the caramel flavors expressed in the cup. In other words, you can taste the tea – but you can also taste the sweet, sumptuous caramel and toffee flavors.

This tea startles me! It’s not often that I take my first sip of a tea and I exclaim “YUM!” But, with this tea, I did just that.

This cup of tea is absolutely lovely. The fruit flavor is pleasant, but does not present an overwhelming essence to the palate. The interesting combination of fruits – blood orange, strawberry, peach and cherry – create a very unified, seamless flavor. Very ambrosial.

Recently, I received a wonderful package full of Dammann Frères teas from a dear tea friend. I’ve tried several of these teas, and I must say that I’ve yet to be disappointed by any that I’ve tried.
This darkly oxidized Oolong tea evokes memories of the winter holidays because of its enchanting roasted chestnut flavor.

Together, these interesting ingredients create a tea experience that is nothing short of fantastic. The taste is sweet, fruity, and creamy – but there is not too much of any one of these tastes. It is a very pleasing balance.

The black tea base here is smooth and well… absolutely perfect. It doesn’t overwhelm the sweetness of the baked apple flavor, but it doesn’t get overpowered by it either.

The green tea base is rich and vegetative. It also possesses a buttery quality, and reminds me a bit of steamed, buttered vegetables. It isn’t a strong, overwhelming flavor, but it lingers in the background and plays well with the fruit and flower taste.

"I am a tea drinker and this cocoa shell tea has been a bit of a revelation for me. I was looking for an alternative, change of pace source of caffeine for my weekends and this fits the bill. One tablespoon brewed for 10 minutes provides a subtle chocolate taste with about the same level of caffeine as green tea, which is perfect for me. I am trying to..."
