This particular certified organic Se-Chung Oolong, which has strong woody notes to it, is blended with sliced almonds which enhances the already nutty character of the Se Chung to produce a very intense Oolong tea which tastes very dark and nutty with a light smoky note in the background.

The cranberry flavor is juicy and pleasingly tart. It has a light sweetness to it too, and the tingle of berry tartness lingers on the tip of tongue long into the aftertaste.

Perhaps it’s the addition of hibiscus, but to me it’s a slightly different strawberry flavor than you might expect. The strawberry is sweet and just slightly tart at the same time.

The green tea flavor is fresh tasting and slightly vegetative, but not overly grassy. This may be due to the strong berry flavor which is sweet, or it could be from the hibiscus in the blend, which lends a slight tartness to the cup, and lingers in the aftertaste.

The raspberry flavor is well defined in this blend, right down to the slight sour pucker. The only thing that’s missing is the seeds that get caught between your teeth!

But it did have an amazingly fresh raspberry flavor. If you are craving a bit of summertime, this is a great winter tea. I suspect, it will make a fantastic iced tea too – maybe with a few fresh raspberries dropped in for color!

It’s actually really good. Yes, it is TART! Very tart. However, the flavor from the peppers give this cup an amazing heat (feel the burn!) that I find very intriguing and it keeps me sipping. The contrast of flavors – tart, spicy-hot, and sweet – is surprisingly delightful. I love the way this tisane plays out on the palate.

"I am a tea drinker and this cocoa shell tea has been a bit of a revelation for me. I was looking for an alternative, change of pace source of caffeine for my weekends and this fits the bill. One tablespoon brewed for 10 minutes provides a subtle chocolate taste with about the same level of caffeine as green tea, which is perfect for me. I am trying to..."
