There is an interesting sweetness that rests in the background of this tea, and that sweetness is contrasted with a savory sour note. This contrast is quite wonderful and is keeping my palate interested. A wonderful smoothness to this tea.

This is one that I highly recommend to all those who are a bit apprehensive of Pu-erh. It has a flavor that is so unique but quite enjoyable.

Although it also does make a quite delicious iced tea as well, I still feel you get the best flavor from it when served hot. A fabulous example of two outstanding Japanese green teas!

The pale amber tea possesses a very faint, sweet floral undertone, but even more delightful (and quite unexpected) was the buttery flavor that washed over my palate.

The Tea Guru
This Valentine’s Day (2011), I decided to do something a little special for a tea review, producing the very first ever official Tea Review Blog video on a tea for review. I chose this tea, Heart of Love from Grand Tea, as the theme is appropriate for Valentine’s Day, all the way around.

The brewed tea smells like very strong jasmine. I was hoping that the taste would be as nice as the smell. The flavor is rich without being overpowering or “too much”.

The green tea is delicious, not extraordinarily grassy-tasting, instead, it is a lovely, gentle flavor that perfectly complements the lavender. The lavender is sweet, yet pungent with sharp notes.

I like that the flavor is not a heavy flavor; a crisp, clean taste with a sweetness to match. I could definitely see myself drinking this everyday!

They brewed up to a light clear gold. The taste was gentle, smooth and almost buttery. As I drank my first cup, the tea bloom kept brewing and my second and third cups, though each one stronger – kept that lovely flavor!

Rose Fairy is a blooming or a flowering tea. It lives up to its name as it blooms open and seems to dance around in the water like a fairy might grace us with her presence. It’s beautiful and fun and delicate!

This tea opens up slowly to reveal three beautiful tiers of white chrysanthemum-like flowers which are topped by a tiny little red flower – or perhaps it is a rose fairy? It reminds me of a ballet – so magnificent, so splendid, so grand.

I generally brew Dragon Well tea in a gaiwan, and that is how I brewed this particular Dragon Well. I like to brew it this way because it is easy to resteep the leaves and enjoy the tea over the course of a couple of hours. It is a very relaxing and contemplative tea, while at the same time, it seems to restore my body and eases any physical signs of stress I might be experiencing.

while sipping this tea, I find that it evokes thoughts of walking through a path strewn with leaves of yellow, orange and red. The air is cool and crisp. It is fall. And there is a smile on my face as I sip Pu-erh.

It has an almost honey-like undertone to the fragrance and flavor. The flavor is polished and robust, with a brisk aftertaste which clears the palate leaving a “golden” flavor on your tongue. Love it!

"I am a tea drinker and this cocoa shell tea has been a bit of a revelation for me. I was looking for an alternative, change of pace source of caffeine for my weekends and this fits the bill. One tablespoon brewed for 10 minutes provides a subtle chocolate taste with about the same level of caffeine as green tea, which is perfect for me. I am trying to..."
