It is a light-bodied tea with very little astringency and a nice aftertaste. The natural sweetness of these tea leaves provide the perfect amount of sweet taste for the cup. To add sugar to this tea would seem criminal to me.

Because the emphasis here is on the second-flush Assam tea, I don’t think that this comes across as too spicy. It is robust, to be sure, but, it is not overly spiced.

The aroma wafting out of my teacup is delightful – an earthy note, woodsy, but with subtle floral tones and perhaps even a slight chocolaty quality lingering in both the fragrance and the flavor.

It is apparent the dedication that Steven Smith has for high quality teas by the tea leaves used in this blend. The leaves are large and brew a beautiful, dark, coppery color with a medium body. The flavor is bright and robust, but not so robust that it overpowers the bergamot.
