Unlike many teas with chamomile in them, the chamomile here doesn’t completely dominate the flavor, nor is there a grassy taste. Instead, the apple pieces in the blend seem to bring out the apple-ness of the chamomile, so that the main taste is of an apple-berry mixture.

This is a great after dinner tea when you are trying to avoid sweet desserts, but you still want something to entertain your taste buds. Tavalon says it’s tangy, and it is slightly, but it is much mellower than some herbal punch type teas. The initial taste is a mixed fruit punch, but after you take a sip, and let it linger in your mouth a moment, you can really taste the individual flavors, especially the cherry.

This chai has some kick to it, and I definitely needed to tone it down a bit with some almond milk and agave syrup as sweetener. But once I did, wow was it good.

This is a pleasantly spiced green tea chai. It isn’t so spicy that it overwhelms the delicate flavors of the green tea – they are coming through quite nicely! And, when it comes to the spices, I’m not left feeling underwhelmed either – this tea is just right!

Lemongrass and green tea leaves, the ultimate combination for an ultimate green tea experience.

Well, even though it looks like pure lemongrass, it tastes different. Sure it’s lemony but not too hard to handle. It’s pleasant and with purpose.

Brisk, strong, and invigorating, Tavalon’s breakfast blend – which they serve in the mornings at their bricks-and-mortar tea shop in NYC – will remind you of all that’s best about New York.

This is one of the smoothest I’ve ever tasted. It is full bodied, but not “strong” like an Irish, Scottish or English Breakfast tea. There was no smokiness to this tea either… just pure smooth black tea.

It is a very energizing blend for those who want to jump start their mornings. A perfect alternative for those who find the java jolt a bit too much for them, but still want something to get them going.

A great alternative to plain peppermint leaves when you are looking for an energizing minty tea to sip on. This makes an absolutely outstanding summer iced tea – garnish with real mint leaves and maybe a slice of lime and you have a uniquely minty refreshment!

This is a super after dinner tea. It has both peppermint AND ginger, both of which are great for soothing the stomach and aiding digestion. It is also mixed with a black tea base, so it has a rich undertone and has toned down peppermint ginger flavor. Looking at the loose tea, it seems to be a real black tea/herbal hybrid, with plenty of visible peppermint leaves in about equal parts to the black tea.

This tea is supposed to be energizing and balancing. Two qualities we all need a bit more of! I brewed this twice, The first brew is very strong, super strong! The second brew is lighter tasting, lighter mint. So it was like I was drinking two different brews. This will also make a great tasting iced tea, it is so refreshing!

The herbs included in this blend are specifically designed to relax and renew, and they have a golden herbal flavor which also is very palatable and soothing to the stomach. Also great after dinner or as a digestive aid tea.

A calming chamomile blend, with a touch of vanilla that’s very soothing. Makes a good iced tea, too.

The strongest taste is the mint, followed by the chamomile, but I thought the two tastes mixed quite well. I recently drank a mint vanilla and I’m not sure but it seems that vanilla helps to tone down the mint taste. In this tea I couldn’t taste the roobios or vanilla at all, and the lemongrass was very subtle. It is more like the tea is blended together so that no one flavor dominates over the rest, which is very nice. And yes, I did drink this tea before bed and yes, it definitely made me ready for bed!

The coconut and pineapple are balanced well in this tea. Neither of the fruits overpowers the other nor the flavor of the tea, so it becomes a very pleasant trio of flavors that dance upon the palate.

The blend of spices in this chai is fairly simple – the usual cardamom, ginger, and cinnamon that we tend to associate with chai, but no cloves – and there is the addition of lemongrass. This creates just a slight sharp note on the tongue, not a strong lemon flavor; cardamom is definitely the dominant flavor here.

"I am a tea drinker and this cocoa shell tea has been a bit of a revelation for me. I was looking for an alternative, change of pace source of caffeine for my weekends and this fits the bill.
