Earl Grey from Dilmah Tea

Earl Grey from Dilmah

Earl Grey from Dilmah

This is a very strong, bold cup of high-quality Ceylon Earl Grey from Dilmah Tea.  The aroma is crisp and refreshing, like a strong Earl Grey should be, and the taste is full-bodied and brisk with the robust citrus overtones of ambrosial {en:bergamot}.  A very solid Earl Grey!

Dilmah Tea describes this tea as:

An enticing experience from the Orient, Earl Grey tea is traced back to the Court of the Chinese Emperors from where the British Envoy the 2nd Earl Grey learned its preparation – Strong, a hint of bergamot flavouring.

I feel it’s more than just a “hint” of bergamot, but that’s what makes this tea such a superb Earl Grey…the gorgeous bergamot flavor and aroma.  When you first open the package of tea, that first whiff of bergamot and fine Black Tea is absolutely amazing!

And this is truly high quality tea folks, a beautiful Single Estate tea, meaning all of the tea in these bags came from the same place!  Dilmah is distinct in being Traditional Tea that is Single Origin Tea and packed Garden Fresh.  As Dilmah Teas explain on their website:

Single Origin Tea – unblended tea – is important because one of the most desirable features in tea is terroir – the sense of place. Terroir dictates that tea grown in the Uva region at a certain time of year, possesses the unique, signature taste that is the product of that unique climatic phenomenon. It gives each valley, each region and each country its unique identity in tea. The lower cost option though is to buy tea from wherever it is cheap – for tea varies enormously in cost – and blend it all together to produce a ‘multi-origin blend’. That may work for coffee, but certainly not for tea.

Dilmah is Garden Fresh, for it is freshness that guarantees a rich, and satisfying cup, that is also potent in healthy antioxidants.

Traditionally Manufactured
Ordinary teas have abandoned the centuries old “orthodox” method or manufacturing for the fast track CTC (cut twist curl) method to meet demand for a quicker brew from tea bags.  This sacrifices the character and real taste of tea.   Dilmah stands firmly by traditional tea making methods, which explains why Dilmah tea tastes different!

Dilmah certainly has a winning Earl Grey, one that’s perfect to drink any time of day.  I love this tea with a touch of sweetener, but you may find it doesn’t need any additions to make it any more perfect than it is.

I haven’t had earl grey in years, it was my favorite with lemon

Do they use real bergamot oil or an artificial flavor?
