English Breakfast from Teapigs

English BreakfastAlso known as their “Morning Glory,” Teapigs really went for it when they created their English Breakfast blend.  This tea really has spunk!

This is a full-bodied tea with all that you may have come to expect from a high quality English Breakfast blend:  pungent, malty and brisk.

Teapigs English Breakfast blend consists of two familiar teas, Assam and Ceylon, and one less familiar tea, Rwandan.  Rwandan is a tea that comes from the Pfunda Estate in Rwanda, and it’s a fairly new tea plantation.  As I haven’t tried a Rwandan tea on its own, I can’t speak from experience about the character of the tea grown on this estate.

What I can say, though, is that this is one of the boldest English Breakfast blends I’ve ever had the opportunity to sample, it would be a great choice for anyone looking for a good, vigorous tea to get them going in the morning.

Teapigs describes this tea as:

About this tea:

For those of you who have bought our Morning Glory tea before, this is the same great blend except we’ve added even more tea to our temple. We renamed it English Breakfast as some people didn’t recognise that this is our everyday blend of tea.

Our signature blend – the Teapig’s version of Builders’ Tea, if you will. Far from ordinary, it’s a skillful balancing act between three glorious teas:  a gutsy Assam, a mellow little Ceylon and a powerful newcomer from Rwanda. (Learn more about life on the Pfunda estate here)

We’ve picked the very finest tea estates for this blend and worked with the owners to make sure every cup of english breakfast is perfect. We love all our teas but we can’t start the day without a cup of our morning glory, particularly on a Monday.

Compare the large leaf in our tea temples to the dust in your regular tea bag; whole leaf is best.

A gutsy tea. A perfectly balanced blend with a malty, zesty, rich strength.

Try it:
With milk. Add sugar if hungover.

Good if you’re feeling:
Anything ranging from slightly sluggish to utterly grizzly. If you’re in a brilliant mood, it will make you feel even better – hurrah.

Generally, I do not get extraordinarily excited over English Breakfast teas, because, well, far too often, when you’ve tried one English Breakfast blend, you’ve tried them all.  While there are exceptions to this, unfortunately, it is more often the case than not.

But it is definitely NOT the case with this English Breakfast Blend.  It was truly a pleasure to enjoy this bright cup, and even more a delight to write about and extol the fine quality of this blend.  Extraordinary!

Thanks for the super great review.
I am drinking a cup of morning glory as I type and even though I do say so myself it is pretty good.
It is good to know that the tea appeals to the american taste buds too. http://www.teapigs.co.uk/product/tea/Black-tea/english+breakfast+tea
