Lime Gelato Green from David’s Tea

Lime Gelato Green from David's TeaThis blend is like key lime pie in a cup!  Actually, I have never had key lime pie, but it seems like this is exactly how it would taste.  The ingredients include Apple, Sencha Green Tea, pineapple, lemongrass and lime yogurt flavoring*.

I was a little worried about how much I would enjoy this tea since it has yogurt, I am NOT a yogurt fan, nor do I enjoy dairy in my tea, but I went with it anyway!  I do really enjoy this unusual blend.  It smells sweet and tart at the same time.  The dried tea is different from other blends.  It has light-colored pieces in it, almost like a raisin.

This is how David’s Tea describes this tea:

Remember the summer you spent in Italy? Sipping espresso on the terrace, catching a ride on the back of a stranger’s Vespa, and of course, trying your first taste of tart, creamy lime gelato. With its fresh, fruity aroma and smooth flavour, this delicious mix of fruit, yogurt, and green tea will bring you right back. Try it iced. On a terrace. While the moon hits your eye.

It smells exactly how it tastes.  I steeped 2 tsp of tea in 8 oz of 200°F water for 7 minutes.  I added 1 tsp of German Rock Sugar  The color of the steeped tea is a pretty light green.  The flavor is definitely a tart/sweet lime with undertones of a smooth green.

This tea is a dessert blend that would be great hot or cold!

Chinesischer Tee

Wow. Gelato ice-cream tea? That sounds, in a very strange way (that makes me almost shy to admit it); enticing. Wanna try this one :-)
