Pistachio Gelato from California Tea HouseIn case you haven’t heard of it, a {en:Gelato} is an Italian frozen dessert similar to ice cream served in a semi-frozen consistency.  In fact, ‘gelato’ literally means “frozen” in Italian.  Pistachio Gelato is made from {en:pistachio} nuts, which are an absolutely delicious nut with a distinct flavor.

The gorgeous Green Tea base here is sweet and smooth, with no hint of grassiness or sharpness.  I love the addition of {en:Roman_chamomile|Roman Chamomile} instead of the standard German Chamomile which is normally used in tea.  It lends a slightly different floral note to the flavor profile.

There are whole pistachios amidst the leaves which add a strong authentic pistachio flavor to the tea.  There are also cracknel bits, which I was unfamiliar with, but learned that these are chopped caramelized nuts – how delicious does that sound?! Well it tastes that delicious, too!

And speaking of nuts, not only are there caramelized nuts, but also almonds and macadamia nuts, all of which are of apparent high quality when inspected, and which lend a very “nutty” flavor to this delightful flavored tea blend.

Finally they finish this tantalizing masterpiece with chocolate pieces and cocoa kernels, which had me sold on this one, because the chocolate flavor really is noticeable and complementary to the blend.

Take a stroll down the sexy cobble streets of an Italian hillside village with this smooth and sensual blend. Pistachio Gelato starts with a superior grade green tea and tosses it with {en:Roman_chamomile|Roman Chamomile}, pistachios, cracknel bits, almonds, macadamia nuts and tops it off with soft chocolate pieces and cocoa kernels.

Use 1 to 2 heaping tablespoons of Pistachio Gelato per cup of just under boiling (steaming) mineral water and steep 1 to 2 minutes maximum.

This smooth, creamy and sweet tea has a deep malty flavor that is simply bursting with chocolate and nuts.  It’s soothing yet indulgent and never turns bitter no longer how long you steep it.   In fact, I love this blend so much that I would consider this one my new all-time favorite green tea!  What an awesome contribution to tea from California Tea House!

This sounds REALLY good. Considering that the chocolate Chai from California Tea House has become one of my favorite I would really like to give this one a taste! Or should I say I want to take a stroll down the sexy cobbled streets of an Italian hillside village! 😉
