Pu-Erh Ginger from Rishi Tea

pu-erh-gingerI must say that I this was the first Pu-Erh Tea I had ever tasted!

And I must first tell you that the second Pu-Erh tea I tried was a pure, unflavored Pu-Erh – and I found it quite disgusting.  I felt like a truffle hunter – with my nose in the dirt eating some kind of flavorful mushroom that one must acquire a taste for!

BUT, with that said – back to the Pu-Erh Ginger. If you’ve read my reviews, you know I love ginger. I followed the instructions for brewing this tea, and then sniffed. I didn’t smell anything but a stinky kind of earth. Made me a bit nervous.

Again… BUT… I sipped… and I experienced a flavor that is almost too hard to describe. The ginger was perfect – and brought a lovely flavor to this Pu-Erh… and suddenly I felt more like I was in the jungle – with the lush scents all around me.

I did enjoy this Pu-Erh and will continue to drink it because of it’s wonderful health benefits!

Here’s what Rishi Tea | Facebook says about the Pu-Erh Ginger:

According to traditional Chinese Medicine, Pu-erh tea has a warm and energizing property. It is known to dispel grease and toxins from a diet rich in meat and cholesterol. Our blend of Organic Ginger and Organic Pu-erh was inspired by an ancient herbal formula used as a “beauty aid” and “slimming tea” in Asia. The zesty notes of orange and ginger complement the rich, smooth flavors of Pu-erh.

I found that this tea brews up to a very red, thick tasting tea. I found myself actually “full” after a cup of it! That’s excellent as it not only is healthy, but kept me from snacking all afternoon!!!

I’m very glad I found this tea, and I’m glad I tasted it first before tasting a pure Pu-Erh. See… you just never know if you’ll like a tea, until you taste it!

I absolutely LOVE Rishi’s Pu-Erh with ginger – great review on it too! I know Pu-Erh is definitely an “acquired” taste, but I think the ginger really does make it spectacular.
