Pu-erh with Ginger from Zen Tara Tea

Pu-Erh Ginger

Pu-Erh Ginger

I fell deeply in love with this tea the moment I tasted it.

A truly one-of-a-kind blend that is so unbelievably earthy and delicious.  The Pu-erh is of high quality, and has a smooth aged flavor.  The ginger compliments the flavor of the Pu-erh like nothing else could.  I’m a lover of {en:ginger} and this tea doesn’t disappoint!

Zen Tara Tea describes this tea as:

Pu-Erh Tea is perhaps the most mysterious of Chinese tea varieties, with a pronounced earthy aroma and taste. It is among the few teas that improves with age. Similar to wine, one may find very expensive Pu-erh teas that are decades old. Nonetheless, the earthy, woodsy flavor is unique and it is a tea best tried once before buying in a larger quantity.

What do we mean by “earthy and woodsy”? In the case of Pu-erh, imagine you are walking through a forest just after a morning rain. As you close your eyes you can smell the damp soil beneath your feet, the leaves that cover the forest floor, the emerald moss on the shadow side of the trees, and wild mushrooms coming up beneath bushes along the trail. This is the aroma of Pu-erh tea. The flavor of the Yunnan Black Tea leaf comes through but it is altered, smoother, earthy, deeper – a burgundy of teas.

Our loose leaf Pu-erh is harvested from ancient tea trees and combined with organic ginger pieces to add another tasting layer and health giving component to this exceptional tea. The familiar ginger flavor balances well with the distinctive Pu-erh taste and together provide a great introduction to this tea for those new to the mysterious qualities of this special tea.

INGREDIENTS: Organic pu-erh tea, organic ginger pieces. Origin: Yunnan Province, China.
Fair Trade and Kosher certified.

So think earthy, think woodsy with a hint of spice and lots of bold flavor!  I liked this tea so much, that upon my first sip of this sample that they sent me with my last order, I immediately went to their website and purchased another 4 ounces of it!  If you like your tea down-to-earth, you’ll love this blend.

Thank you for your review of our organic Pu-Erh with Ginger tea, we’re glad that you enjoyed the tea!

As some people may have read in the news recently, there has been a down turn in the market for Pu-Erh teas. They were trendy the past couple of years and prices shot way up which brought some dubious pu-erh teas to the market that were artifically aged or misrepresented to command a higher price. We source our pu-erh teas from organic growers in Yunnan, China that are long established and whose tea farms are visited annually.

Also, just wanted to point out that Zen Tara includes a free one cup sample with all of our customer’s internet orders.
