At first glance, this tea seemed like it had a bit too much going on for me. I like jasmine, but I’m still a bit on the fence about White Tea and, well, I have no idea what silver needle is or tastes like. I’ve also never had Rishi brand tea before so I was a bit dubious. But being the adventurous tea person I am I brewed up a cup. After all, if jasmine is included I know it won’t be horrible.
The first thing I noticed was the quality. The tea leaves were nice and full and had a delicious jasmine scent.
Rishi describes this tea as:
White tea buds harvested from the Fuding Da Bai varietal infused with the fresh flavor and aroma of jasmine flowers according to a totally natural process that uses only freshly picked jasmine flowers and expert tea mixing, sorting and drying techniques. Refreshing, soft and subtle with sweet flavors, smooth white tea body and a lofty floral aroma.
This was a delicious cup of tea. I don’t know if it was the lightness of white tea, or the freshness of the jasmine but this was a very light jasmine tea that went down easy. It also had a delicious jasmine fragrance. Sometimes older jasmine tastes a little sharp, or bitter, but this one never lost it’s light taste even towards the bottom of the cup.
